About Physiotherapy

Al-Makassed Hospital was the first hospital to introduce physical therapy services to hospital residents in 1976, and for many years it remained the only hospital in providing this service among hospitals in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem. In 1985, the outpatient clinic was opened in the department, where the department was equipped with the latest equipment available at the time and began providing physical therapy services to hospital residents and patients referred to it. We were also the first in this department to support and assist physical therapy teaching programs in various local universities and institutes, as well as to supervise students and provide them with the opportunity to benefit from the department’s services, capabilities and the expertise of the department’s staff. In 2010, new services were introduced in the department using new devices and equipment that can cover all medical cases that need physical therapy, whether they are hospital residents or referred to it.
