In the medical, scientific and educational dimension, Al-Maqasid is a multi-service hospital that has provided, and continues to provide, distinguished services in many fields to the homeland and the Palestinian citizen. Since its establishment in 1968, i.e. only one year after the occupation, it has achieved distinguished developments in most areas of medical work. What is happening in practical reality in terms of development in the nature and level of its services during the past few years has transferred its various departments, to varying degrees, to the field of in-depth sub-specialties, where the name “departments” no longer suits the nature of the existing work, as it has come to include in-depth sub-specialties. As an example of this, and not limited to, we take one of the hospital’s departments, which is the Department of Pediatrics, which has developed from a “Department of General Pediatrics” to become, with merit, a complex of units of in-depth sub-specialties, where 11 consultants and pediatric specialists now work in sub-specialties such as digestive system diseases, respiratory system diseases, hereditary and genetic diseases, and metabolic diseases. ,) Endocrinology and Diabetes, and Pediatric Neurology, Muscles and Spasms, to support their work with advanced laboratories such as the Genetics Laboratory, the Metabolism Laboratory, the Brain and Muscle Functions Laboratory, the Digestive Endoscopy Unit, the Respiratory Endoscopy Unit and the Intensive Care Unit.
